Impromptu at the Beach!

I took Jacob on a run this morning. And I got a little sidetracked :) it turned into a photo session. I've just been itching to put him down in front of all these fun backgrounds. He is officially 8 months now and looks so big! And just like an eight month old he tried to pull up on a nearby antique and ended up with a shiner on his cheek.

Texas bound!

So we are moving to Texas. Wow. Wasn't expecting this but we'll make it work. We took a trip there this weekend to decide if we wanted to move. I've got a few pics of Jacob on the plane. Addie stayed with her grandparents.

Texas was nice! Lots to do and very family friendly. The animals scared me though. These squirrels would run right at you! Alabama squirrels definitely don't do that, and Jacob and I got dive-bombed in the pool by some crazy birds. No wonder they all carry guns.

So moving with two small kids. Not sure how this will go. I have so much to do my head is spinning. But I trust in God's plan for us and we're thankful for this awesome job opportunity.

Praying for sanity over the next few months! Sad to leave my friends. Excited for new things to come!

First dance recital

Well we made it to the first dance recital! At rehearsal the night before I wasn't sure if she was going to go through with it. Scooter was in the audience and he said he could hear Addie backstage crying and saying "I want my daddy!" but when the curtain went up she did every move of the dance! Go girl!

The night of the recital she was actually more excited to see her cousin Kaci and her grandparents than she was about the recital. We had a mini meltdown after she got up from her nap. She said she didn't want to go, but once I dragged her there and got her in costume she felt like a rock-star and was ready to go. She and all her little friends posed together.... Sort of reminded me of getting ready for a dance in high school :)

When the curtain went up she was so good! I mean seriously the best one out there. I was a little worries about her dad though. He kept yelling at people in the audience to move during the dance.... Not that I blame him. They shouldn't be up during the dances. You wait all year for a two minute dance.....you really want to see the whole thing!

She was so happy when it was done! Me too :)

The Gorilla gets a Pedi

Ever had an experience with your kids where you both were TOTALLY looking forward to something, only to have it turn out to be a nightmare thanks to toddler fears? I guess it wasn't really a nightmare, but Addie and I had planned on having girls day out yesterday. She told everyone how we were going to get our nails done and I tried to prep her by explaining the process.... But as soon as we got in the door I heard that whimper. The one that says "I'm freaked out and nervous and won't be doing this". I showed Addie the kids chairs that were super cute and she still said no. So I got my pedi, which wasn't very relaxing because Addie asked the little girl who was doing my feet when she was going to start painting my toes every 5 seconds- alternating with getting up and running to look at things in the spa.

During mine, a group of little girls came in to get their toes done. Addie watched very closely. She finally said she wanted to do hers too but whenever I tried to put her in the chai she would do this crazy gorilla leap crying, swinging her arms, and hopping around so I couldn't catch her. I was SO embarrassed.

At this point I was ready to go, but I knew how much she would regret it later so we "discussed" what she wanted. Nails painted. And a pair of their flip flops. Nothing else. Her nails also resemble gorilla nails because they haven't been trimmed in a while. So one of the Ladies took pity on her (me) and sat on the floor to paint her toes.

She stepped on one before we got in the car and wanted to go back in to get it fixed....not gonna happen!

And of course when we got home, she cried because she wanted the full Monty!

Told me she was scared of the polar bears that were on top of the kid chairs at the spa. Soooo....in order to help my three year old over her new fear of the spa (Lord help us) we made our own spa and I gave her a foot bath :)

On a better note, our toes do look fabulous!

I added a pic of Jakey looking cut too. Turns out we both missed him today

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

We had a gorgeous day down here and enjoyed some yummy in the tummy Mexican food (and a margarita for Mom!)

Addie got into the spirit of things. The men were more interested in napping on the couch.

Addie wanted to go on my run with me this morning. I knew not much running would be occurring when she showed up dressed in a crown and giant purse. Oh well we had fun talking and looking for "treasure". Addie did run for about 500ft before telling me that "this running is too hard of work"! Si Seniorita. I agree :)

Meal progression

1: content to eat from spoon held by Mommy
2: wants his own spoon
3: "enough with the spoons! Move over lady so I can feed myself "(via hands)
4: "these hands don't work! All the food falls through them! "Face goes into bowl
5: bowl goes on floor (along with remaining food)
6: "ahhhh.....done. Now clean me up wench!"

Slow down please!

Jacob is crawling. He's a mean belly scoocher but can getup on his hands and knees and go too! He is determined to move! Every week when I take him to school he has hit a new milestone. Sitting up. Pulling up. Creeping. Now crawling. So much fun to cheer him on! But oh little buddy, you are growing up so fast!

Addie was content to stretch out the baby stage. She met her milestones on time but not really early. This tugs on my heart strings a little that he is knocking them all out so soon! Wish I could just bottle up all the baby snuggles and toothless grins and shy little head burrowing into my neck then peeking out and smiling...,no camera can capture those feelings! Sigh. The life of an over-sensitive momma.

Here are a few pics. Addie took the one of Jacob and me. Pretty good for a 3 year old...and speaking of 3. Don't you wish you could be three again after seeing this pic of Addie at play? :) :)
