Ever had an experience with your kids where you both were TOTALLY looking forward to something, only to have it turn out to be a nightmare thanks to toddler fears? I guess it wasn't really a nightmare, but Addie and I had planned on having girls day out yesterday. She told everyone how we were going to get our nails done and I tried to prep her by explaining the process.... But as soon as we got in the door I heard that whimper. The one that says "I'm freaked out and nervous and won't be doing this". I showed Addie the kids chairs that were super cute and she still said no. So I got my pedi, which wasn't very relaxing because Addie asked the little girl who was doing my feet when she was going to start painting my toes every 5 seconds- alternating with getting up and running to look at things in the spa.
During mine, a group of little girls came in to get their toes done. Addie watched very closely. She finally said she wanted to do hers too but whenever I tried to put her in the chai she would do this crazy gorilla leap crying, swinging her arms, and hopping around so I couldn't catch her. I was SO embarrassed.
At this point I was ready to go, but I knew how much she would regret it later so we "discussed" what she wanted. Nails painted. And a pair of their flip flops. Nothing else. Her nails also resemble gorilla nails because they haven't been trimmed in a while. So one of the Ladies took pity on her (me) and sat on the floor to paint her toes.
She stepped on one before we got in the car and wanted to go back in to get it fixed....not gonna happen!
And of course when we got home, she cried because she wanted the full Monty!
Told me she was scared of the polar bears that were on top of the kid chairs at the spa. Soooo....in order to help my three year old over her new fear of the spa (Lord help us) we made our own spa and I gave her a foot bath :)
On a better note, our toes do look fabulous!
I added a pic of Jakey looking cut too. Turns out we both missed him today
