Manger Danger!

I've been teaching Addie about strangers. She can talk like an adult, but for some reason in her mind, strangers have become "Mangers"

Our conversation this morning in the car....
Addie: "when a manger tried to take me I'm gonna yell at him and say Stop, you're not my nanny and I'm going to yell Manger Danger".

That's right sweetie, glad we've got that covered :)

What the ?!

Look what is hanging in my kitchen.

Thanks sis in law! My husband wants to quit his job and open a brewery.

I told him that Baptists don't drink :)

Watch out for the Stanleys!

Here's how we roll....
We carry guns (of the squirting variety)
We drive distracted (gotta look good)
We manage to look fierce from behind the paci
That's right. Time for our Sunday walk. Watch out neighbors!

Sleeping baby

I love to see my babies sleeping peacefully. Jacob is finally taking longer naps. Just for me, so I can remember the sweetness, I'm going to post a few pics :)

Friday funday

Last Friday was warm and awesome! We pulled out the little pool for Addie and she swam and blew bubbles and had a great time just being out in the sun. I could seriously have just sat down and soaked it up. I'm kind of like a (freckled)lizard in sunshine.... Drink it in! Scooter was home too and got to work power washing the patio. He hates getting all the grit on him so he donned his protective gear. We think he looks like gorton's fish man!

St Patricks Day

We woke up to a sick little boy :( no fun at all, so our plans got changed and we stuck around home all morning. We did manage to put on our green, lest any leprechaun got an itch to pinch! The afternoon meant a trip to lowes, grocery store, and the park . Jacob is feeling better but still not himself so we're grilling at home tonight. It's hard to beat my husbands steak and asparagus with roasted potatoes. And....to be festive we made green rice crispy treats! Yummy!

In other news, Jacob is trying to move himself forward! When he sees something he wants he is totally going for it.

Addie is singing everything she hears. She's memorized "hey Jude", and today I caught her singing a little Ray LaMontagne- go girl!

Look what I found this morning!

House Sanity- Front Entry

There are some things I need to work on at home. I never seem to have time but really. It's our home! What's more important than making it "homey"? So I thought for some accountability I would start posting some before and after pics here.

I'm going easy on myself and starting with the front door. It needs some tlc. After the Christmas wreath came down and my little trees in the planter died (that may or may not have been last summer....oopsy) it's just sat there. Not really very welcoming. So here I go! Giving myself a week or so to make it better :)

Compliment?

Addie this morning. "mommy, you look beautiful in that crazy dress"

Not sure if that's good or bad, but anytime someone says I'm beautiful I'll take it! Love you sweets.

The back-up zoos back-up

Yesterday I promised Addie we would go to the zoo. I thought it was supposed to be nice weather all week. Wrong! Woke up to a wind storm last night and then gray skies this morning. I knew shed be upset so I resorted to a back up plan... Quick trip to the Oak Mountain petting zoo before bad weather arrived this afternoon.

Miraculously, we were up and on our way by nine. All were excited. I paid my $3 and told the lady we were heading to the petting zoo... But lo and behold it was CLOSED! Gah! Toddler meltdown was well on its way, it was starting to sprinkle and I felt so bad. She had been so excited. I got them back in the car and drove next door to the stables planning on begging someone to let my kid pet a pony, but begging wasn't even necessary. There was a picnic area right in front of the stalls and I just went ahead and assumed it was okay to pet the horses if you could eat with them!

She was thrilled and so brave. Went right up and stuck her hand in ones mouth (slight panic from me) and made faces, sang to them and fed them grass. I'm sure the horses were less than impressed with the snack selection, but they were lovely and ate it anyway to her delight. Thank you horses. Next time I'll bring carrots, promise. It was really a treat for me too. I love horses and went to a horse camp during the summer as a kid. These big creatures with gentle eyes are friends to me. We also saw the ducks get in a fight and jump in the water, a turtle, and a little pony. Jacob even reached out from the safety of the bjorn and grabbed the horse's nose! All in all, success! Thank you to the horses for helping me out. You rock!

Valentines!

I have some great valentines pics that I haven't posted. It was a fun time for us this year...that could have something to do with the mass quantity of sugar consumed...but good times were had.

Addie and I were scheduled for a pinkalicious date at the library the week before. Jacob ended up coming too. Poor little guy. It was a pinkyfied girl fest! Pink everything and a TON of kids. Our library rocks and kudos to the ladies that put this together. I was proud that Addie tried everything (and some things twice!) this included pink punch, decorating pink boxes and pink cupcakes, making pink marshmallow suckers and pictures with the pink lady(told you it was out of control!)

Then a seventies theme party at school and a romantic family dinner at the cas a.....or at least as romantic as possible between breastfeeding, trying to cook, and scooter getting home late because he and all the other men in Birmingham were at publix buying gifts! He and I celebrated the next week by heading out to see Wicked the musical at the BJCC.... A date! Holy cow! What is that?! :)

Girl cookies

Addie on the way home..."Mommy, I want a cookie when I get home, but not one with girls in it" :)

Dada

Why do babies always say DADA first? I am so excited that Jacob is babbling! It would be nice to hear a little Mama in there too :) seriously though, I'm so thankful that he is growing and babbling and rolling and sitting up! I just sit back and marvel at God's creation. They are such little miracles and having a son brings to mind so often that God loves us in the same way and sent his own little miracle to earth to live among us, teach us, and die for our sins. Being a parent has brought that home to me over and over again. When I think of how much I love my children, I am also reminded that God loves us even more. Crazy.

We went to our park yesterday. Addie can climb the "whirly twirly" both up and down now....when did this happen?! She was super proud. At dance class she didn't get a sticker because she ran around the room like a banshee. Mucho tears ensued over the purple sticker. It may have been my fault slightly because I let her drink sprite right before the class.....oops.

The non event

Well yesterday was supposed to be a crazy weather day(again). Have I mentioned before how I hate tornado season? Being a mobilian I can handle big storms....but try sitting in a dark basement with a baby and sirens going off outside..little stressful

Anyhoo.... We were fortunate. No rain even until last night and then just a little while of wind. Best part is hubby was supposed to go on a fishing trip but changed his mind so we had him home with us! AND..... I looked super efficient yesterday as I had cleaned the kitchen, mopped and made a pot roast. Yes you can call me Martha :) I

We took 5 month pics of handsome yesterday. Big sis wanted pics too...
